College Self-Care Essentials Checklist

College is a time of self-discovery, which can be very stressful, but self-care is a great way to calm yourself down after a long day. Whether you’re a rising senior or an incoming freshman, every student should take care of themselves both mentally and physically. Self-care can come in many different forms, but we’ve got you covered! Here are our top five self-care items you should get during your back-to-school shopping, with everything from the coolest African exfoliating net on the planet to comfy accessories.

For The Most Hydrated Skin On Campus:

OSEA Glow All Over Travel Set- $36

If you want to feel luxurious after a nice everything shower, this is for you! This travel set includes three of OSEA’s most popular products; the Undaria Algae Body Oil, Body Butter, and the Salts of The Earth Body Scrub. These products are infused with seaweed and ensure your skin looks and feels hydrated, but never greasy. I love to apply the body oil after getting out of the shower while my skin is still slightly damp. Once it sinks in, I apply the body butter on top to ensure extreme hydration. Try it out! I promise you’ll be back for the full-size set soon!

For the Body-care Junkie:

LUV SCRUB Mesh Body Exfoliator- $18-$20

Time to throw out your nasty loofah, you won’t miss it! LUV SCRUB has revolutionized the African net sponge, a tool that has been used in Ghana for generations. This product effectively cleans and exfoliates the skin, and can stretch up to 50 inches in length, making it easy to scrub your back. Since I incorporated LUV SCRUB into my shower routine, I’ve noticed my skin feels softer, and the KP on the back of my arms has faded. Plus, it comes in eight gorgeous shades and only needs to be replaced every 18 months, meaning you only spend a dollar per month. What college student doesn’t love clean skin for a bargain?!

For The Student Who Needs Some Zen:

Essential Oil Diffuser

If you’re living in a dorm this year, it’s likely that your campus won’t allow you to burn candles. However, an essential oil diffuser will likely be allowed. Essential oils are known to help you relax, boost your mood, improve motivation, help maintain energy levels, and so much more. Personally, I love using peppermint oil to boost my energy and relieve stress. There are many different essential oil kits you can purchase at retailers everywhere, so you can find what works best for you.

For The Writer:

Journal

Run to your local bookstore and get a journal! While it may be difficult for some to stay consistent with journaling, it has many benefits including boosting your mood, achieving goals, improving mental health, self-awareness, and more! I recommend picking up a journal you think is cute, along with some fun colorful pens. Then, you can search on Pinterest for prompt ideas. Happy writing!

For The Student Who Needs to Catch Some Zzzz’s:

Sleep Mask

Sleep is the best way to recharge your body after a stressful day, but sometimes it can be hard to rest with a roommate. Sleep masks are the perfect way to block out bright lights in your dorm room and relax. You can also customize your experience by getting a mask infused with essential oils, or a weighted one, which can help with falling asleep. Sweet dreams!

Time to Take Care (Of Yourself)!

Whether you’re looking for a bit of rest and relaxation or the best way to exfoliate and moisturize your skin, these five essentials will help you ace self-care 101! Feel free to try out other self-care products you find such as face masks, comfy slippers, and more to see what works best for you. College can be very stressful so it’s important to take care of your mental and physical health. But we promise these five products will make the best years of your life even better. Take care of yourself!
